The Best Foiling Podcasts

The Best Foiling Podcasts

Theres an awful lot of foilers around the world who are fully 'foil brained' and trying to absorb as much knowledge and intel as they possibly can to fuel their passion. Couple this with the boom in podcasts over the past 5 years and we've now got some great shows to listen to online, in the car or even at the beach before a session!

We consume a lot ourselves - to hear from industry leaders, pick up technique tips or even just to laugh at people going through the same painful learning process that we are with these new disciplines that keep popping up. The following is a list of some of the best we've found.

The OG - Progression Project

Erik is based in Florida and used to live in Costa Rica where he picked up SUP surfing and eventually foiling. The Progression project started as a SUP only podcast but evolved as Erik's own passions did too. He gets some of the biggest names in the business in for a chat and delves deeply into the 'flow state' and the learning processes we go through with these sports. It can get pretty geeky...

The Progression Project · 137 - Dave Kalama

The New Guys - The Generic Foiling Podcast

The GFP was started by two Brits who work in the UK watersports industry and wanted to use their intel along with their findings from learning to wing to put something digestible together. Theres obviously some similarities in guests to the Progression Project, as this industry is so small - but the chats tend to be of a very different style. Erik works in seriousness, Liam and Freddie are the opposite. If you like techy talks, Erik has that in folds. If you can't handle 2 hours of carbon fibre weave discussions and .5 degree shim chats, the GFP is probably where you belong. Granted, they can take it too far sometimes - but its often hilarious to listen to and they're getting better and better as they go along.

X Foils - Dylan

Dylan runs Kite Puerto Rico and is a regular in the North Foils test team as he works so closely with them in the shop and school. He's a very well liked character that wanted to get some ramblings online and showcase some of the local talent from Puerto Rico on the world wide web as well as recordings he makes while on his travels to the states. He's also an absolute ripper on the water and can back up what he talks about with his top end talent of interviewees.

The Aussies - The Foil Project

Western Aus focus from these guys - they popped up with the most professional looking setup out there, and it turns out they're all in college doing media courses and had access to this amazing equipment - meaning their production is of the highest quality! It also turns out that Hugh who is one of the main culprits behind the show, is so good at downwinding that James Casey asked him to join the coaching team at the Coach Casey Club - the man knows his stuff!

The Casey Catch Up

Speaking of James Casey - one of the worlds best downwind foilers - He's also got his own podcast series. Fewer and far between as James is forever traipsing around the world to his own Coaching clinics - but he's done some banging interviews with some of the worlds best riders. Usually after James has beaten or been beaten by said riders at the races he interviews them at.
