Collection: Surf Tail Pads
A tail pad — or traction pad — gives your back foot a fixed, grippy platform to push from. It's a cleaner alternative to wax on the tail, and once you're used to having one, going without feels immediately wrong. The kick at the back edge gives you a reference point for foot position without having to look, and the arch bar in the middle helps with stance and control through turns.
The main variables to consider are kick height, arch bar profile, and whether you want a one, two, or three-piece pad. Higher kicks suit more aggressive surfing where you want a hard stop for your heel on sharp turns. Lower kicks and flatter profiles work better for longboarding or a more relaxed style where you're moving your feet around more.
