An impact vest does two things: absorbs the shock of hitting the water at speed, and adds buoyancy to help you stay at the surface between attempts. Both matter when you're learning to foil or wing, and become habit once you've experienced a heavy fall.

The Fifty is the go-to for winging and foiling — it's CE certified to 50N, which is meaningfully more buoyancy than most impact vests offer, and is built to work over a harness with reduced foam in that area and a hook loop for your wing leash. The Watervest Ground runs slimmer with a 13mm foam profile, optimised for wakeboarding where rib and spine protection is the priority over buoyancy.
