Getting out of a wetsuit in a car park in November is one of the less glamorous parts of watersports. A changing robe makes it considerably less grim.
Ponchos — or changing robes — are oversized hooded towelling or fleece-lined capes that you throw on over your wetsuit before peeling it off underneath. They keep you warm, give you privacy, and mean you're not doing an awkward dance on a cold concrete floor. Once you've used one you won't go back to a regular towel for beach changing.
Microfibre travel towels are also worth having in the kit bag — they dry fast, pack small, and don't take up half the boot like a full-size bath towel does.
