Ozone Apex V2 Foilboard Review

Ozone Apex V2 Foilboard Review

The Apex is Ozone's low volume foilboard which is designed primarily with kite foiling in mind but works great for dock start and pump foiling or for tow/wake foiling. This is the second version and it keeps the overall concept the same but with some great improvements.

First up the shape - it is very similar in terms of outline, but there is more scoop in the nose to help with touch downs. The deck itself is stiffer too which helps with control of the foil. All in all nothing radical here, but a nice improvement.

The big difference when comparing the two versions is the track system. The original had slots and some custom titanium sliders. This was quite a neat solution, but we are not a fan of custom hardware generally speaking. Sticking a foil which used M8 bolts on was impossible for example. The Apex V2 uses carbon tracks which allow you to use any sliders, M8 or M6. This design change is probably also responsible for improving deck stiffness and creating a cleaner looking top surface.

The deck pad on the top is great. A massive improvement. There is a nice kick tail, changes in pattern to help feel where your feet are and a ridge down the centre line. We love this and the fact there are plenty of inserts for various strap configurations.

All in all this board is a really solid option for the money and is pretty much bombproof. Perfect for travel too. Right now this is our go to board for kite foiling and dock starting and wake foiling.
