Infinity B-Line Twin Surf SUP Review

Surf SUP shapes tend to work like surf shapes - once they are proven they stick around for a while. They just get refined over time. This means it is always exciting when you get a new one to try - something that feels completely different. Twin fins surfboards have become pretty popular over the last few years and that is moving into SUP. The B-Line was originally designed for aggressive competition style riding - a shortboard style. The new B-Line Twin sits in the Infinity range between the bigger wave performance oriented Blurr V3 and the super accessible Wide Speed. The dimensions are pretty forgiving with plenty of width to offer stability. It has rails with a tucked edge providing loads of grip, speed and snappy turning.
The big twin fin set up took us a minute to get used to - especially when paddling. Once on a wave though we could see exactly what this board was all about. It is really fast. The other twin fin in the Infinity range is the Escape Pod. The Escape Pod offers super compact dimensions and an incredibly skatey feel on the wave. The B-Line Twin is not like that - it was firm and planted on the wave with plenty of grip. It is a much higher performance Twin fin model. We found the board could handle steep drops no problem. Once on a wave the speed really inspired confidence and helped you to make turns and get round sections. It brought a big smile to our face - this is a very fun board and made us feel like a much better surfer.

We can see how in big waves where there is plenty of speed on offer then a super fast board like this might feel out of control and just too much. Whilst it handled some steep drops without sticking the nose in, it was still no more than head high in the bigger sets. The width of the board (especially at the rear) and the speed would make it a handful on a big day. That said - most of us do not ride those big days all that often and for small to medium sized waves this was super fun.
The board we tested was the 8'2 x 30" x 115L.
